Gaiatribe: Ideas for a Thinking Planet belongs to a blog network called Geek Universalis. This network contains several blogs, each with its own author and area of expertise. Posts from each individual blog feed into a central blog, similar to the way columns combine to form a magazine. In fact, that central blog resembles a magazine or newspaper in appearance.
Geek Universalis covers a wide variety of subjects; each author contributes an interesting voice and a definite point of view on their respective specialties. The network favors commentary and opinion rather than formal news. Imagine the ideal reader as a mid-30s, well-educated and curious person who is technically and politically savvy without being an expert, with few beliefs so firmly held that s/he isn’t interested in how anybody thinks about anything. To the modern Liberal Arts graduate, the theory is that Life Is Interesting. Let us tell you about it.
If you want to enjoy the whole smorgasbord — with topics including activism, fine arts, music, science, philosophy, pop culture, and sports — then go to the main page and subscribe to Geek Universalis using the RSS tool in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If you want to read one author’s thoughts on a specific subject field, then subscribe to the individual blog. Look for the “subscribe” tool at the top of the page, or use the RSS options under the “Meta” section in a sidebar. Choose from these fine blogs:
Pitchwife’s Gaming Life — games and other entertainment
The Professional Heretic — politics, economics, philosophy, and news
Seattle Bulldog — assorted sports
The Geek at GU — games, current events, and miscellany
