The Coconut Office

by Elizabeth Barrette on February 5, 2010

I was amused by this article about an office pod that looks like a coconut.

Would You Work in a “Coconut” Office?

These coconut-shaped offices are actually called pods. They are manufactured by the UK-based company, Archipod (pronounced ‘ark-ee-pod’, as in ‘architecture).

Well, these ergonomic offices of the future may make a lot of sense, if you telecommute or want to have your own home-office away from the everyday household din (noises).

That sounds crazy, would the floors be flat? If not imagine having to chase a roll away pen round a spherical floor, and would you desk stand in it?

I don’t know what the pod looks like inside, but I would expect the floor to be flat.  The walls could be flat (which would lose a lot of space) or curved (which would make it hard to position furniture).

My office is a large room in my house, and it is just crammed with books and stuff  — I have 7 bookcases in here, plus my desks!
