January 30 is National Seed Swap Day. This is a time for people to raise awareness about open-pollinated seeds and to exchange the ones they have. You can read more on the Bloggers Unite event page.
What is a Seed Swap?
A seed swap is a gathering where people can trade seeds from their garden for different seeds from other gardeners. There are also online versions:
National Gardening Association seed swap
If you can’t find a seed swap in your area, you can organize one yourself.

Washington Gardener Magazine started National Seed Swap Day five years ago. It is always the last Saturday of January. We celebrate by holding a Seed Exchange in the Washington DC-area on that date each year. I’m glad to see the event and day has taken off and is being celebrated outside our area.
