Thanksgiving Activities
There are lots of things you can do with your family to make Thanksgiving fun. Remember that you don’t necessarily need to buy entertainment — you can make your own.
- Make one last trip to your local farmer’s market. Most of them close after Thanksgiving. Buying local and organic food helps reduce the burden on the Earth.
- Read poems or sing songs about Thanksgiving and related motifs. There are examples at DLTK and Songs for Learning. You may want to expand your repertoire with other folk songs from American, Celtic, or other history. And don’t forget Native American songs!
- Learn about the history of Thanksgiving.
- Kids enjoy making Thanksgiving crafts. Look at the supplies you already have and try to imagine what you can make with them.

Thanksgiving Decorations
Holiday decorations can be hard on the Earth. Choose things that are renewable and biodegradable instead! Bonus points for buying recycled goods, because that encourages more people to recycle.
