How to Plant Hyacinth Bulbs

by Elizabeth Barrette on October 20, 2009

Autumn is the time to plant bulbs for spring flowers.  Hyacinth bulbs may be planted in September, October, or November.  (In colder climates, plant in early fall; in warmer climates, plant in late fall.) You may also enjoy my earlier posts on fall bulbs, tulips, crocus, and daffodils.

Hyacinths are gorgeous plants that produce stalks crowded with small, fragrant flowers.  They bloom in shades of red, pink, purple, blue, yellow, and white.  Hyacinth bulbs are a little hard to find in supermarkets, but you can get them in garden stores or shop online at Holland Bulb Farms or Van Bourgondien.
