This activity is designed to cultivate community on a blog by helping the readers get to know each other.
Spread the Comment Cheer!
Here are the instructions for the Weekend Meet’n’Greet:
- Leave a comment here. You can tell people a little about yourself and your blog. How do your interests intersect with Gaiatribe’s field?
- Next, visit the person who commented above you and read their latest blog post.
- Leave a comment on their site that includes the tagline: Hello, Elizabeth Barrette sent me.
You’re all invited to participate. You can visit more than one blog if you wish. If you are the first person to comment, just say hello to me, and I’ll visit you too! Remember that Gaiatribe uses CommentLuv, so every comment shows people what you are blogging about. Finally, if your blog aspires to a thriving community, you might want to try the Weekend Meet’n’Greet meme there.

Hi! I’m doing organic (or as close as I can) gardening in my large yard in the city. We have a young Mulberry tree that we’re starting to train into an arch; we’d like it tall enough that people can walk under it but to not let it grow like its mother, which is so tall the berries are merely purple-bombs and bird-feed. (While I don’t mind feeding the birds, the purple bird-fewmets on the car are less than ideal. I’d rather eat most of the berries myself!) One of the things I’ve been doing at my blog is posting pictures of the various plants and animals there; my latest garden post includes a pretty purple flower I’d love to have identified — and not just as “my neighbor calls those weeds!” Feel free to stop by!

Mulberries can be pruned to bush form or kept as small trees. For an arch, I think the best approach would be to cut off the main trunk at the height you want the tree to stay (in fall after the leaves drop) and then concentrate on shaping the side branches.
