Rabbits in the Strawberry Patch

by Elizabeth Barrette on June 18, 2009

Wild rabbits have discovered the wild strawberry patch in my butterfly meadow.  In exchange for the fruit they’ve eaten, they have left a deposit of fertilizer.

Gardening with wildlife can be frustrating when they eat everything in sight, but it’s cool when they do some of the work for you.  This is a sign of a healthy ecosystem in action.  When it’s working right, there is enough food for humans and wildlife to share.

Show off your wildlife!  If you have photos of animals or signs of their passage, please feel free to comment with a brief description and a link.
