April 22 is Earth Day, a time for honoring the Earth and practicing environmental awareness. Join the Earth Day event on Bloggers Unite if you plan to blog about this holiday.
Background and Celebrations
The first Earth Day was held in 1970. Some people cite this as the birth of the modern environmental movement.
The Earth Day Network lists news headlines, television shows, and educational opportunities related to Earth Day. Current campaigns break down into Green Schools, Diversity, and Global Campaigns.
The U.S. government has an Earth Day page with action ideas for the home, classroom, and workplace. There are also volunteer opportunities. The EPA has a separate page, para más información en español.
Kaboose Holidays lists Earth Day with crafts, movies, books, and other activities to celebrate it.
EnviroLink lists Earth Day events, searchable by location.
Other organizations such as the Wilderness Society, World Wildlife Fund, and the Nature Conservancy also have their own pages for Earth Day with ideas for activities.

Thanks for the vote! I have at least one more Earth Day post planned, for the holiday proper. Plus Chelsea Green has sent me more books, so there will be more reviews coming up that feature titles relevant to Earth awareness.
