As a reviewer, I read a lot  of books.  One of my favorite presses is New Society Publishers.  They specialize in books for world improvement.  Their topics include natural building, intentional community, environmental issues, activism, education, globalization, progressive leadership, parenting, and sustainable living.

Activism in Action

Activism is an American tradition that dates back before the founding of our country, at least as far as the famous Boston Tea Party. The Constitution guarantees citizens the right “to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” Other countries have their own activist traditions and organizations, such as Australia’s Activist Rights. It all comes down to some form of deliberate action intended to cause positive change in social, political, or other arenas.
